Pierre Bonnaud

1865-1930 French

Born in Lyon. Pierre entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, he was taught by J.B. Poncet. He then went to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts Paris where he worked with Jean-Paul Laurens, Bonnat, Gerome and Gustave Moreau. Bonnaud learned how to harmonize colour that is evident in the works he created. He exhibited at the Lyon Salon from 1888 and at the Paris Salon from 1891. His work is fine and of a very high quality, he worked on canvas, panels and Limoges enamelled copper. Pierre painted portraits, still life, genre scenes and history subjects. He enjoyed painting female subjects.
