Joseph Thors

Landscape painter. Lived in London, but also worked in the Midlands, where he is regarded as a member of the Birmingham School painters. He exhibited mostly at Suffolk Street, also at the Royal Academy (1863-78) and British Institution. His landscape paintings are usually rustic scenes with winding paths, cottages, figures and animals, painted in a style which derives ultimately from the Norwich School of artists, he painted many pictures in and around Surrey and also exhibited in Birmingham from1869-1909. Joseph also worked in France around Fontainebleau.
