George Smith

(1829 – 1901)

George Smith studied at the RA Schools and later exhibited many works at the Royal Academy (78 paintings), British Institution and Suffolk Street.  He specialized in finely detailed paintings of genre and domestic scenes often of children which were much admired. They were usually rather idyllic scenes. Works by him are in the V&A, Nottingham and Rochdale Art Galleries.
