Edward Henry Holder
Yorkshire painter of landscapes. Born in Scarborough.
He exhibited from 1864-93 at Suffolk Street, also at the Royal Academy
(1872-73). His pictures are mostly coastal views in Yorkshire. He
lived in London and Reigate in 1871 painting pictures of Surrey and
Sussex, he then visited South Africa, where he carried out many painting
commissions. In 1917 he exhibited a view of the Victoria Falls on
the Zambesi at the Royal Academy. Several of his paintings are in
City of York Art Gallery.
